ARCHITECTURE WORKSHOP "MULJARA" - TRANSFORMATION OF THE ZAGREB CEMENT FACTORY INTO A CONTEMPORARY HABITAT

Zagreb City Museum
workshop:
19 to 21 March, 26 to 28 March 2010
exhibition:
15 to 25 April 2010
organized by: Zagreb City Museum and the ARCHIsquad
led by: Ana Dana Beroš; Mirna Horvat; Vedran Jukić (Graduate Architects)
workshop and exhibition coordinator: Goran Arčabić

The "Muljara" workshop and exhibition are a part of the Zagreb City Museum project entitled Zagreb industrial heritage: history, state of affairs, outlook. The exhibition will present works produced during the practical and theory workshop led by the ARCHIsquad architects. The workshop goal is to present possible content reuse of the unused industrial complex of the cement factory in Podsused, and encourage analysis of the abandoned industrial complexes bearing heritage characteristics to be used as premises intended to meet the contemporary social needs. The workshop and the exhibition bring forward the ideas for reuse of industrial heritage which had not been used for decades, despite its valuable spatial, economic and cultural potential for the city development. Opening of the exhibition as a follow up of the "Muljara" workshop will be on 15 April 2010 at 7 p.m., as a part of "The Future of Zagreb Industrial Heritage" symposium .
